Recently, I thought of a line from an old movie in which a young paperboy cried out, “Extra, extra! Read all about it!”Although it probably wasn’t good news he was propounding, nonetheless he was drawing attention. And so it continues today, broad-based media bombards us with stories of what’s wrong in our world. Thankfully, we now have One Tribe Nashville as a news alternative, which leads to the point of this post.
During the past several years the subject of 2012 has made its way into the forefront by way of books, movies, television shows, and news articles; most of which features the destruction of mankind and the earth.
However, to the contrary I have just discovered and studied a remarkable work titled Fractal Time by author Gregg Braden (Hay House Publishing). The essence of the book is that 2012 is not necessarily a time of destruction but one of transformation. He explains in a non-scientific manner the science behind the universal cycles, nature’s patterns or “fractals,” the history of the world, and life. Gregg theorizes that the key to our future lies in the wisdom of the past.
As our planet travels through this last portion of its 5,125-year world age cycle, it will complete a nearly 26,000-year trip around the core of our galaxy. On December 21st in 2012 Earth will cross the threshold of the equatorial meridian of the Milky Way and begin its next 5,125-year world age. Braden suggest, “The rarity of these two cycles completing simultaneously, and the fact that we are living at a time when they converge, tells us beyond any doubt that these are truly extraordinary days.”
It is also noteworthy that the ancients—the Hopi, Maya, Aztec, Vedic, and Egyptians—held the knowledge of this convergence of cycles for thousands of years. Modern science is just now accepting its meaning.
Braden further states, this cycle is a “rare and precious gift” and that how we accept it will shape our lives individually and collectively. Our ancestors left us important information about the “renewal that comes with the dawning of a new cycle and a new world age that allows us to succeed where others have failed, and to assure the future of our species. Perhaps the greatest awakening that we are experiencing is the discovery of the fact that we have a choice!”
Braden speaks of “choice points,” times when conditions make it possible to begin one path of experience and change it with our awareness and beliefs. This truly is good news. By affirming life changes locally we can affect the collective focus globally. Our individual choices will directly affect whatever 2012 brings.
Understanding the truth surrounding the 2012 phenomenon, my plan of action is to continue to bless my family, friends, and the community in which I live, and to think on a global level for affirming life and the health of our planet.
