In my effort to bring peace and unity among all cultures, I post pieces on this blog that inform, educate and cause us to think before jumping to conclusions when we meet someone who is different.
Here is an outline brought to my attention by Cymry Wiccae (http://www.tylwythteg.com) that compares and contrasts Cymry spirituality with organized religion. Cymry [pronounced KOOM-ree] refers to members of the Brythonic branch of the Celtic peoples, which now comprises the Welsh, Cornish, and Breton peoples.
Cymry spirituality says that god/dess is both within us and without us - that we don't need an intermediary to make that divine connection for us.
Organized religion says that we are separated from god/dess and that we need "someone" to make that divine connection.
Cymry spirituality says that we are free to make choices on our own and that we must take personal responsibility for our actions.
Organized religion tends to tell others how to think and act, what to believe, and what choices to make. Failure to conform results in disfavor with its leaders.
The theme of cymry spirituality is love.
The theme of organized religion is fear and guilt.
Cymry spirituality does not require us to make donations.
Organized religion has become big business.
Cymry spirituality says there is no hell, no judgment, no angry god... that we are loved by our god/dess.
Organized religion says there is a hell, god gets angry and judges us... therefore, we are not loved unconditionally.
Cymry spirituality says we are free to choose our own path to god/dess.
Organized religion commands us to do it their way.
Cymry spirituality says we go to god/dess to lighten our burden.
Organized religion has taught us to fear their god.
Cymry spirituality says we should not be ashamed of our sexuality... that it
should be a sacred celebration of love and initiation - a passing of power.
Organized religion has taught us to feel ashamed, guilty and dirty about our sexuality.
Cymry spirituality teaches us to honor and respect mother earth.
Organized religion has told us to "be thou fruitful, multiply and subdue the earth" i repeat... "subdue the earth".
Cymry spirituality reminds us that we are one with god/dess and one with each other.
organized religion teaches disunity and separation which is the opposite of god/dess.
Cymry spirituality says god/dess is within.
organized religion says he is in heaven and that "they" are the only intermediaries for us.
Cymry spirituality says we are born in innocence and purity.
organized religion says we are born with sin.
Cymry spirituality teaches that we are on a long spiritual adventure and journey which will ultimately end by reuniting with our source.
Organized religion says we've got one life to get it all right and there is nothing but heaven or hell after that.
Cymry spirituality says we are free to express our hearts and truths.
Organized religion gave us the dreaded inquisition.
Cymry spirituality teaches love for all who are truth seekers.
Organized religion gave us the crusades in which many were killed and slaughtered in the name of god.
Cymry spirituality teaches that we should love one another and
always honour the rights and choices of others.
Organized religion treated Native Americans, the Mayans and other indigenous cultures as savage primitives who “must be saved”.
Cymry spirituality teaches peace and harmony.
Organized religion has caused more wars and more killing than any other reason.
Cymry spirituality teaches us to have faith in ourselves.
Organized religion teaches us to have faith in them.
Cymry spirituality says we have all the answers... that we can find them by
Organized religion teaches us that it has all the answers and only its answers are the right ones.
Cymry spirituality teaches us to search for the universal truths and our hearts will tell us when we have found them.
Organized religion teaches we have no choice but to accept their version of the truth.

Go to your heart for the answer - it will never lie to you
